Golf Course Surveys

Scanning of Putting Green

We use a Leica P40 scanner for golf course surveys to generate accurate 3D digital terrain models of putting greens, this model can then be used to analyse the slope and elevation of a green.

The model generated is also an effective way of recording the definition of a green’s surface indefinitely. A scanned green can be recreated at any time in the future, this is useful where the green is to be returned or even moved into position. Before during and after scans can document the accuracy of a putting surface when replicated.

Colourised Slope Analysis Map

Slope arrows, contours, and colour shading define the direction and intensity of the slopes present on the putting surface.
The area and area percentage of different slope percent bands are given.
The average slope percentage is given by our golf course surveys.

Pin Locations Map

Provides a map of all the possible pin locations, for a certain green speed, aligned on a one meter grid.

Colourised Elevation Analysis Map

Slope arrows, contours, and colour shading define the elevation difference across the putting surface.
The average elevation and elevation difference is displayed

Uses of Analysis Outputs

Where a golf course green has a problem due to it running too fast, the colourised slope analysis map can easily see where the problem is. A green that is running too fast will have large areas with high slope intensities, greater than 5%, indicated on our map as red areas. We can provide guidance on remodeling the green to provide more areas of low slope intensity, less than 2.5%, thus slowing down the overall speed of the green and giving more appropriate potential pin locations.

The Pin Locations Map can give a golf course a schedule for moving the pin position, assigning a day in the month to each pin location on the map. This will ensure even wear of the putting surface and will avoid the positioning of pins in locations that are inappropriate.

We can create a pocket-sized booklet for the caddy and player. These booklets provide accurate slope information for each green on the course providing slope arrows, contours and colour grading to define the percentage of slope.

Setting Out

We provide an accurate and efficient setting out service for new, remodeled or replicated greens using our integrated Trimble R10, RTK GNSS, and Trimble S5 Total Station. The proposed model of the green to be set out is uploaded to the survey equipment logger and can then be set out. Levels are provided to the operatives grading the green at any location as required.

Drone Golf Course Service

We can provide drone aerial imagery and photogrammetry survey services to your golf course. The drone can be used to quantify the areas of fairway, green and rough and a 3D digital terrain model of the entire golf course can also be outputted.  Stunning smooth 4K video and aerial photos can be provided, if required, of an entire golf course.
